The usual cause of shower drainage is blockage due to body hair which then catches the oils washed from the body. A few simple steps may help.

• Find something long and thin that can be used to fit through the drain, such as a coat hanger. Make a hook on one end.
• Remove shower grate.
• Gently push the coat hanger down the drain and once you hit the bottom, turn it around then pull it up to remove it from the drain. You will most likely find a big clump of hair.
• Reinstall the shower drain and run the shower.

Sink or basin blocking up? Don’t panic! A few simple steps may resolve it for you.

• Turn off the water to prevent the sink from overflowing.
• Use a bucket or small container and remove excess water in the sink or basin
  Under the basin there will be a 's' or 'p' trap.
• Remove the trap carefully without tilting to prevent the water in the trap discharging everywhere.
• Clean out the trap by tipping out the contents, and if needed, knocking onto a hard surface. By doing this, you will be able to find what was causing blockage.
• Re-install the trap and turn the water on.

There is nothing more annoying, and wasteful, than a dripping tap! The simplest way to fix it is to replace the washer, however, that is sometimes not the answer. The taps sometimes need to be 're-seated' which means that we need to clean out the spindle of the tap from all the worn rubber and freshly prepare the seat for a new washer.
